How would you imagine a mid post graduation trip with friends to the Himalayas ?
This post tells you about the places we visited during our trip to Himachal. It might help you to plan a next bachelors trip to this beautiful and scenic place of Himachal.
It was the around the Independence Day of 2012 when a group of 7 friends plan a trip from the city of Joy, Kolkata. We took a train from Kolkata to Delhi and then from Delhi to Chandigarh. The journey seems quite fast . Actually this was the most boring part of the journey or the trip. Now I take you to the real adventure.
After reaching Chandigarh at about 6pm, we planned to hire a cab for a week trip to Manali and Shimla.
Chandigarh to Manali an overnite road journey (appx.250 kms) was an exquisite journey with friends and booze. 12 hours run on very narrow roads of the mountains. It was scary and exciting.

En route at ROPAR , PUNJAB
After an overnight journey with tires deflating twice and the affect of booze,we reached Manali early morning.
We were all exhausted by the journey and surely needed a bath and some sleep before we could continue with the trip. We had already booked a studio room in Manali. We played pool and rested for the whole day. Manali has always been a one stop destination for tourists because of its scenic beauty, pleasant weather, and the recreation facility available. I will discuss about the recreation facility later.
Later in the evening we visited the famous Hidimba Temple of Manali. Hidimba Temple is very famous among the tourists of Manali. Almost every tourist visits this place. The Temple is made of woods and surrounded by cedar forest. Though it was not an attraction for us but still it is an important part of a trip to Manali.

Hidimba Devi Temple
After Visiting the temple, we spent the evening on the streets of Manali with street foods and some booze.
The next morning we woke up with our hangovers to see the freshness of the morning in the valley. Our next destination was a biking trip to Rohtang Pass.
Bikes are very easy to hire in Manali. You can get good options of bikes and are readily available. One needs to submit some papers and driving licence and then the bike is yours.
We took a Hero Honda CBZ and the classic Yamaha RX 100 for our trip. 4 members on 2 bikes and a 50 km jorney to Rohtang Pass was waiting for us.
The 50 km journey is one of the toughest road of the world. Buses, trucks and every other type of vehicle ply on the same narrow road with inches difference from each other and the edge of the mountain road.
It is both scary and exciting and on bikes its more than that. The best thing about the trip is that one needs to burn fuel for one side of the journey . The other half, one can slide down the mountain with the engines switched off.

The biking trip is the most awesome thing one can think of in Manali. With every curve one climbs 50-60 meters and one can really feel the weather getting colder. Riding on roads in between the mountains is altogether a different feeling. After around 25 kms from Manali, we stopped for the so called staple food of these roads, MAGGIE. This is the one thing available on every road side stalls and the tourists also make full use of this service. We called it as MAGGIE at an altitude of 14000 feet.
After Maggie, We carried our journey to Rohtang Pass with the raining weather and the muddy road. This 50 km journey seemed like hell until we reached our destination.
Thanks
